As a fan of author Kate Forsyth, fairy tales and pre-Raphaelite art, I have been highly anticipating Kate's new novel 'Beauty in Thorns'. For over a year I have followed Kate's pinspiration board and now I really can't wait to read the novel. Another project of Kate's, a collaboration with photographic artist Lorena Carrington is 'Vasilisa the Wise' which looks like an enchanting publication. I love Kate's writing and Lorena's art work, so no doubt the combination will be mesmerising.
My reading list this month is somewhat influenced by the Australian Fairy Tale Society's tale of the month 'ALADDIN'. I'm working my way through Sir Richard Burton's translation but I'd like to compare his text with some contemporary retellings. I had not thought to be caught up in this month's tale but the intrigue of translations and provenance is fascinating.
