The Canberra Australian Fairy Tale Society ring met this afternoon to discuss the 'Knights of the Fish'. None of the group were familiar with the Spanish tale of magic fish, twins, dragons, princesses and witches, but with our reference list provided by the society we had plenty to talk and laugh about.
As usual we collectively had a good pile of books and tales to read. We talked over the magic / talking fish motif in stories, Bruno Bettelheim's The Uses of Enchantment came into conversation and we also read a magic fish story out of Angela's Mandrake and other Feisty Fables by Jennifer Rowe (this perhaps made us laugh loudest).
Thank you to Cherie, our ring leader who brought the mince pies and thanks to all the Canberra group for your company and insights!
