Fairy Tellers by Nicholas Jubber
I unfairly dismissed Fairy Tellers when it came out in 2022. I mean who is Nicholas Jubber? A travel writer - and?
I borrowed this book from my local library. I was delighted to find a thoroughly readable, researched and travelled account of some of the key tellers in the Fairytale Teller family tree. Jubber whisks you around the past as though it were yesterday, painting in the context of who was writing and making art, the politics and social setting. I was gripped!
With many of the renowned Fairy Tale scholars giving tips and translations, Fairy Tellers isn't a rehash of old material (at least not to me) but offers new insights in an engaging read.
I haven't finished it yet as I had to give it back to the library curse them! I will buy a copy soon as I want it in my collection.
