I do like a graph!
Do I count listening to a book that I have read over and over? hmmm
Wifedom: Mrs. Orwell's Invisible Life by Anna Funder
A creative biography. I chose to listen to an audiobook because in general, I'm not fond of biographies or autobiographies. The voice actors were great and the pacing got me to the end. I knew nothing of Eileen Blair or the personal life of Eric Blair/George Orwell. Like many I read 1984 and Animal Farm at school.
While listening I was furious and appalled by accounts of Eric throughout the book and the twisting and omitting of the truth that previous biographers of Orwell had reputedly taken. Anna Funder makes a good case against Orwell yet does she overstate her opinion? How do we know what choices she made with the truth? We don't.
Overall I enjoyed the creative 'fictionising' between 'facts' which made for compelling listening and Eileen Blair sounds like an amazing woman.
Cursed Cocktails by S.L. Rowland
A cozy fantasy genre title, not overly sweet like many. A 'special forces' elf retires to warmer climes to heal and recuperate. Sets up a cocktail bar in a haunted shop.
A slowish start that gradually picks up. Found family themes, cocktail recipes, and warm and fuzzy vibes.
The Spell Shop by Sarah Beth Durst
If you like cozy fantasy, then try this one. A bit too sweet for me, a lot of jam and baked goods and too much romance. But the MC is a librarian with a talking plant. There are merhorses and winged cats.
